Our family values, defined by our founder Mich Stevenson and immortalised by his daughters and our current owners Becky and Victoria, sit at the heart of how we work with our clients. With our heritage firmly rooted in Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, we’ve earned an enviable reputation as an multi-award-winning first mover specialising in bespoke, sustainable and beautifully designed offices in Nottingham’s Creative Quarter. Our 40 years of expertise means that we know how crucial the right office is when sustaining a thriving business.

Becky Valentine
Co-owner, Sustainability & Building Health Consultant
With extensive award-winning expertise in the education of, and embedding sustainability within, operations and across the built environment, Becky leads Spenbeck’s building health and sustainability client support. She enables private and public sector organisations to optimise occupants’ health and wellbeing through their working environment, alongside leveraging the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to support organisations to create actionable environmental, net zero and holistic ESG strategies. Becky also specialises in providing sustainable offices, with an acute understanding of the commercial realities and particular requirements of retrofitting listed and heritage buildings. Utilising her background in teaching, she is an Associate Lecture at NTU, carbon literacy trainer and participant in several high-profile sustainability and leadership expert panels, webinars and podcasts.

Victoria Green
Co-owner, Interior Design & Heritage Regeneration Consultant
Inspired by considered design, Victoria is an expert in delivering on interior design briefs whilst pushing creative boundaries. Having led on Heritage Regeneration, Lettings and Design at Spenbeck for nearly twenty years, she possesses experience in developing and managing customer relationships whilst delivering refurbishments of heritage, commercial and residential spaces. Passionate about bringing big-budget design solutions to homes and workplaces, her qualifications in energy efficient retrofitting and interior design allow her to bring an informed, holistic and sustainable approach – alongside her regular contributions to local magazines, panel discussions and webinars.
Our Story
1981
1981
Spenbeck was founded by Mich and Don Stevenson – two brothers with a shared interest in property development. Named after two of their children – Spencer and Becky.
1992
Don Stevenson is sadly lost, with Mich carrying on the business with a determination to do well in memory of his brother.
1993
The Lace Market Heritage Trust (LMHT) is founded by Mich, with the purpose of working to preserve and renovate the historic buildings housed within this famous area of Nottingham city centre.
1994
Mich is responsible for creating The Museum of Law Trust Co. (MLTC), with the aim of saving The Shire Hall and creating Nottingham’s Galleries of Justices – now the National Justice Museum. The Trust raises £3.5m in just 18 months.
1997
Mich is awarded an Honorary MA by Nottingham Trent University in recognition of his work to regenerate The Lace Market.
1998
The accolades continue to pour in for Mich, after he is awarded an OBE for ‘Services to the Galleries of Justice’.
2005
Mich is awarded the Freedom of the City of Nottingham in recognition of his significant contribution to the city and its heritage infrastructure. Victoria officially joins Spenbeck and immediately plays a key role.
2005
Becky follows in her sister’s footsteps by joining the business. Mich is also awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws (Hon LLD) by Nottingham Trent University.
2010
Mich delivers his vision for Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, which brings significant investment into the city.
2011
Mich retires, with Becky and Victoria taking over the business and setting out their vision for its future success.
2022
Spenbeck shares its expertise in optimising work environments by creating consultancy support services in suitability, interior design and building health.
